Industrial Engineer I (Maintenance)

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Establish and maintain production standards (takt times), station workload balances, and labor requirements for all phases of service part distribution operations
  • Establish material flow, equipment and material station lay-outs and review on a regular basis for improvement opportunities
  • Establish labor and material requirements for engineering changes, make vs. buy studies
  • Advocate for continuous improvement on process and engineering changes impacting distribution efficiencies and report out to internal and external stakeholders
  • Monitor and control production speed for flexible workstations and preservation line rates
  • Participate in using and implementation of Lean Six Sigma and ISO Standard tools within the assembly process flow
  • Interface with union on labor standards, labor problems, and ergonomic issues
  • Complete projects within budget and scheduling constraints
  • Review industry policies and regulations to ensure compliance
  • Assist in overseeing and managing the complete packaging development process, including the creation of packaging designs, prototype development, and performance testing
  • Assist in troubleshooting new and existing packaging problems involving designs, materials and processes and provide creative, timely, and cost-effective solutions
  • Assist in interpreting packaging requirements from customer contracts and ensure that packaging material conforms to industry standards and contractual requirements

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

  • Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Processes, Manufacturing Engineering Technology, Industrial Engineering, or equivalent experience is preferred, along with three to five years in automotive assembly a definite plus
  • Must be able to read technical drawings and having program knowledge of AutoCAD. SAP and Team Center experience a plus
  • Must be able to understand, interpret and apply various packaging and government standards for packaging requirements
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, including Office 365 is required
  • Must possess a high level of initiative, organizational skills, and the ability to work independently
  • Must maintain extreme accuracy in quality of work
  • Must have strong written and verbal skills

PHYSICAL EFFORT

  • Sight: must be able to regularly read computer screen, reports, and various documents with detail and clarity to accomplish work tasks in a safe and efficient manner, including regular use of adequate close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus
  • Hearing: must be able to regularly hear well enough to communicate

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Physical Location: This position operates between an office and manufacturing plant environment and is often assigned to a specific shift or hours. The Employee must be able to perform job functions in an environment with varying difficult work conditions such as extreme cold, heat, inclement weather, at heights, and/or while exposed to constant/intermittent loud noises
  • Teamwork: This position will work with others to ensure efficiency in the workplace
  • Listening Skills: This position will need to understand how to use machinery properly and safely to prevent accidents and ensure all tasks are completed accurately
  • Ability to follow instructions: Managers assign tasks and responsibilities, which vary; this position should be able to follow instructions competently
  • Methodical approach: Production lines follow a set process, so this position needs a methodical approach to ensure all tasks are completed in the correct order for a smooth-running production line
  • Concentration: This position may perform the same or similar tasks repeatedly, so a strong level of concentration when carrying out these tasks is important for quality control purposes. This role is often fast paced, so being able to maintain focus at all times is important
