Program Therapist (Personal Services)

GENERAL FUNCTION: 

This position is responsible for providing appropriate clinical services to youth ages 12-18, including nonminor dependents, and their children in a licensed residential treatment setting. Must provide individual, group, family, and milieu therapy and Day Rehabilitation. Must provide information, consultation, advocacy, and collaborative treatment planning within the agency and in cooperation with other agencies.

Shift Requirements:

  • While hours may range from 8:00 a.m.–8:00 p.m., the primary client sessions occur in the afternoons and evenings, as youth are in school during the day. Each clinician is required to work at least one PM shift (approximately 12:00–8:00 p.m.) per week, though most are typically on site into the evenings to meet client needs. There will also be a potential to move into weekend hours. 
  • Wage range is $70,000 to $90,000 depending on Licensure and experience.
    • MAJOR TASKS:

      Provide comprehensive therapeutic services such as administering assessments and completing required contract documentation, such as Client Plans, De-escalation and Safety Management Plans, progress notes, transition documents, etc.

    • Provide individual, group, family therapy, parent education and Day Rehabilitation, as appropriate.
    • Assess client's needs, strengths and level of functioning; establish a current psychosocial and needs assessment, diagnosis and treatment plan.
    • Complete intake and transition documentation according to regulatory and contract requirements.
    • Participate in Treatment Team meetings, SIR Debriefings and appropriate Child and Family Team meetings.
    • Provide therapeutic services that are knowledgeable and respectful of differing cultures and the norms that exist within various cultures.
    • Consult with Clinical Program Manager, Chief Program Officer  and Consulting Psychiatrist regarding assessment and treatment.
    • Establish and maintain consistent contact with client's Placing Agency Representative, authorized representative, HHSA social worker regarding client's progress, placement planning, medical needs, and outside services. Provide advocacy and disposition recommendations.
    • Participate in weekly individual and/or group supervision.
    • Attend all staff meetings and in-service trainings as required.
    • Observe and interact with resident in the setting(s) that best meets their needs.
    • Assist with crisis assessment and behavioral interventions.
    • Transport residents to appointments, including court hearings, using agency and/or personal vehicle, a needed.
    • Assist with on-site visits from Placing Agency Representatives.
    • Provide clinical services, prioritizing tasks to accommodate daily needs of residents.
    • Maintain contract productivity and documentation standards.
    • Provide a minimum of 5 hours of billable services to each assigned client weekly and a minimum of 20 hours of total billable services each week.
    • Provide services to clients not on their regularly assigned caseload, as needed and assigned, and to support the program when other therapists have time off.
    • Perform other tasks as assigned.
    • EFFECT ON END RESULT: This position assures that therapeutic and specialty mental health services and case management are provided in a trauma-informed and culturally respectful manner to support the care, treatment, and services of residents and their child/ren in Residential Services.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be able to be associated with Casa de Amparo through Community Care Licensing (CCL), which typically includes clearance by FBI, DOJ and CACI.
  • Must have a master's degree in social work or Marriage and Family Therapy or Counseling, leading to licensure.
  • Must be Registered with the CA Board of Behavioral Sciences: Must have ASW, AMFT, or APCC. Must be valid and current.

  • Must be Registered with the CA Board of Behavioral Sciences: Must have LCSW, LMFT, or LPCC. Must be valid and current.
  • Knowledge of developmental needs of children ages 0-18 years throughout the developmental stages.
  • Must possess strong interpersonal, time-management, organizational, written/verbal communication skills, and intermediate computer literacy. English proficient/Bilingual Spanish preferred. Must have ambulatory, auditory and visual skills to observe residents and staff.
  • Must have the physical ability to participate in activities and perform related physical skills, including, but not limited to, crouching, lifting 50 pounds, crawling on hands and knees and walking up and down stairs.
  • Ability to comply with all employment requirements including, but not limited to CPR/Pediatric 1st Aid, physical, TB and drug screen clearance, clear DMV record and approval from insurance carrier to drive agency vehicles. Must provide proof of immunization against influenza, pertussis and measles.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
