Working in a software engineering organization, the Engineering Development Manager will collaborate with other development managers to develop our people, products, and processes for software development of medical systems for oncology called MOSAIQ.

Note: this is a junior engineering development manager position for candidates in software engineering management positions for 2-4 years. Please do not apply if your experience is beyond this level.

Responsibilities –

  • Responsible for software product development, including customer visible features, non-functional features and improvements, as well as defect fixing and tech debt reduction

  • Manages a scrum team and delivers according to plan and according to the required quality standards

  • Manages the non-technical aspects growing and coaching scrum team members, conducts performance management, develops talent, and increases efficiency

  • Contributes to code development, is involved in the code review process and by being hands-on has direct knowledge of the daily work of the development and quality engineers in the scrum team

  • Provides feedback and input to sprint planning and execution to ensure dependable and reliable software product delivery

  • Instills continuous attention to technical excellence, good design, high quality code implementation as well as continuous engineering improvement

  • Ensures that IP strategy is followed, and IP protection generated for key elements

  • Adheres to guidelines and principles defined by the platform software group

  • Adheres to and improves Agile implementation and PLM processes

Authorities –

  • Develops long term competence and engineering excellence

  • Manages, mentors, and grows scrum teams, manage all scrum team members with individual attention

  • Empowers scrum team to make the right decisions in context of product engineering

  • Leads the effective utilization of scrum team members

  • Responsible for direct reports, including goal setting, coaching and performance management

  • Adheres to all compliance, legal and regulatory requirements in developing our new products with optimal quality

  • Decides together with Intellectual Property team on filing of patents

  • Ensures the right balance in competences short, mid, and long-term keeping clinical workflow expertise improvement as a priority

Qualifications –

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. Employees must be able to read, speak, write and comprehend the English language.

  • Solid understanding of Agile and scaled Agile

  • Excellent software engineering management skills

  • Ability to coordinate scrum team members in scrum teams

  • Understanding of disciplined methods in the design, development and debugging and test of software programs

  • Understanding of quality system requirements and compliance

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail

  • Skills in team participation, quality orientation

  • Listening skills to support teams in problem identification and decision making

EXPERIENCE:

  • Software and infrastructure engineering management experience, including a minimum of 2 years and up to 4 years in a lead software engineering role or management position

  • BS degree in Computer Science (master's degree or PhD degree preferred)

  • Experience in software engineering organizations, medical devices industry preferred

  • Demonstrated track record as a software engineering manager

  • Proven experience with Agile Development and Product Lifecycle Management

  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)

  • Experience with managing the software delivery lifecycle of the scrum team by following agile best practices while monitoring what works and identifying areas for improvement

  • Experience with cloud-based systems such as Azure, AWS or Google Cloud is preferred

  • Availability for infrequent travel on request

The US base salary range for this position is $175,000- $205,000.
