Senior Director (OIEC) (Finance)



Position Summary

TheSenior Director - OIEC is a strategic leadership position responsible for establishing, developing, and directing the Operational Innovation & Excellence Center (OIEC) within Stella-Jones. This role will champion operational innovation, excellence, and continuous improvement by integrating and guiding the Engineering, Project Management Office (PMO), and Supply Chain functions. The OIEC leader will drive standardization, process improvement, technology adoption, and strategic initiatives that support operational efficiency, cost optimization, and sustained competitive advantage. This is a newly created role, ideally based out of our Lenexa, Kansas office.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Establish, lead, and develop the OIEC as a center of excellence within the organization.
  • Provide strategic direction and oversight for the Directors of Engineering, PMO, and Supply Chain, while actively engaging as a direct actor in critical large-scale projects.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives, innovation, and operational excellence across all OIEC functions.
  • Standardize processes, tools, and methodologies to enhance organizational effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Facilitate collaboration and alignment among engineering, project management, supply chain, operations, and other key business units.
  • Ensure successful execution and integration of capital projects, engineering solutions, and supply chain strategies.
  • Monitor and report performance metrics, leveraging data-driven insights for strategic decision-making and continuous improvement.
  • Support the COO in strategic planning, organizational alignment, and driving overall operational effectiveness.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or related field required; Master's Degree or MBA highly preferred.
  • Minimum 10 years of progressive leadership experience in operations, engineering, supply chain, and/or project management roles.
  • Proven experience establishing and leading centers of excellence or similar strategic operational functions.
  • Strong strategic planning, leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated success driving process improvements, technology adoption, and innovation in complex, multi-site organizations.
  • Expertise in developing and monitoring key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure operational effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Experience coordinating across diverse stakeholder groups and business units to achieve organizational alignment and strategic objectives.
