Internal Medicine Physician (Part-Time) (Finance)

The Part Time Regional Medical Officer is responsible for the clinical operations and all clinical financial outcomes within a designated region. He or she will do this by maintaining and further improving Alignment's clinical model. The Regional Medical Officer will partner with the VP, General Manager and together they will lead the start-up and champion the growth of new regions.

General Duties/Responsibilities (May include but are not limited to):

  • Must be located in El Paso, commit to a 20 hour a week schedule, and be willing to see 10 patients a week (in home visits or facilities)
  • Provide strategic and operational direction for the delivery of performance based medical management.
  • Manage budget and risk drivers.
  • Analyze and report business performance data to customers, senior management, and the Board of Directors.
  • Participate in the management of all the clinical divisions within the region.
  • Engage in the analysis of local profit and loss performance.
  • Work seamlessly and effectively with the non-clinical departments within the organization.
  • Develop and maintain strong provider relationships.
  • Maintain a customer-driven passion for excellence and commitment to innovation and implementation of ideas that improve the healthcare of the patient population.
  • Execute and implement timely and high-quality decisions.
  • Hire, develop, and reward staff to effectively support the company's strategy.
  • Direct patient care in multiple care settings to include but not limited to: hospitals, clinics, skilled nursing facilities, etc.
  • Across all settings of care, create a comprehensive and coordinated plan of care which takes into account information from medical records, the patient and their families, primary care physicians, and specialists as necessary.

Supervisory Requirements:

Oversees clinical staff for the region. Direct reports mostly include Physicians but with dotted line oversight over all clinical personnel. Responsibilities include recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees; assigning workload; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; and coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees.

Experience:

Required:

  • 2-3 years of Hospitalist, Family Practice, or Internist experience preferred but will also consider graduating residents and fellows.
  • 1-3 Years of administrative experience
  • Basic understanding of the UM/QM process

Preferred : 1-3 Years of managed care experience

Education/Licensure:

  • NPI (must, upon start)
  • Medical Doctorate (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.)
  • Internal Medicine or Family Medicine Residency
  • Completion of residency program in the United States
  • Board Certification required or Must be Board Certified or board eligible in a Specialty
  • Medical License in the state in which applying to
  • DEA license

Specialized Skills

Required:

  • Substantial knowledge across medical subspecialties
  • Clinical confidence and friendly "bedside manner"
  • Flexibility and willingness to learn new systems and processes
  • Strong communication skills
  • Proven background in financial and clinical data analysis

Preferred : Career interest in management

Pay Range: $262,145.00 - $393,217.00
Pay range may be based on a number of factors including market location, education, responsibilities, experience, etc.
