Technician/Engineer, Electrical Engineering & Failure Analysis (Engineering)
The Technician/Engineer for Electrical Engineering & Failure Analysis will be based in Austin, TX and reporting to into the rapidly expanding Embedded Power Group. In this role, you will be responsible for receiving, processing, testing, debugging, and providing failure analysis on power supplies, Battery Back Up units, and related Power Shelves primarily for AI data centers that have been received from the field. Additionally, for the right candidate, occasional off-site travel and field work may apply.
What a typical day looks like:
Customer communication, Internal factory communication and receiving point
On Site Verification (Flex test tool)/ No Defect Found screening
Perform test on Automated Test Equipment / High pot / Charge cycling
Unpack and repack at unit and pallet level + Logistics
Cosmetic Repair / Screening / relabel
Firmware updates
Trouble shooting replaceable parts
Replacement of sub-assemblies
Unsoldering/Resoldering of certain components
Perform Failure Analysis - failure logs/error codes, open the Power Supply Unit, document, initial troubleshoot, and potentially do some swapping, propose root cause if it can be found, capture a waveform, and provide Design For x reporting back to the manufacturing / design site
The experience we are looking to add to our team:
Functional knowledge, education background or 2 years working experience in electrical engineering or failure analysis.
Electrical engineering degree preferred.
Good communication skills and excellent relational / problem solving skills.
Demonstrates working knowledge of functional electrical concepts and schematics.
Has a safety / quality mindset as the products include batteries and high power
Ability to self regulate time invested in a repair vs scrap
This position is an excellent training ground for a Field Application Engineer position.
