Director of Information Technology (IT) (Finance)



H2M architects + engineers, a multidiscipline architectural, engineering, and environmental consulting firm seeks a dynamic Director of Information Technology to oversee, lead and manage a team of IT professionals, fostering a culture of collaboration, continuous improvement and professional development. H2M's IT Director is responsible for the leadership, planning, strategy, budgeting and execution of all IT functions related to H2M's technology programs. In this role, you will be continually enhancing the technology vision for H2M today and the future. This position oversees technical projects in alignment with organizational and departmental goals. Directing the effective delivery of systems, networks, development and implementation of software, and cyber security/disaster recovery systems in conjunction with senior leadership to ensure successful technology operations throughout the company. In this role, you will support H2M's mission through the promotion of information and technology resources for the benefit of the firm and its clients.

Job Responsibilities: Leadership, strategy and team development:

  • Responsible for establishing group/department goals, determining the resources needed to meet those goals, managing the resources, and assessing group performance.
  • Collaborate with senior management to devise and establish IT policies and strategies to support the implementation of IT solutions throughout the organization.
  • Able to effectively collaborate with stakeholders to develop an integrated approach to the delivery of IT services that meet their needs.
  • Oversee the execution of enterprise technology standards, strategy, and performance metrics to ensure IT delivers value to the organization.
  • Oversee staff supporting IT infrastructure, end-users' technology needs, and software applications, with the goal of leading the company's technology operations and overall IT success.
  • Direct IT operations to ensure proactive continuous evaluation and improvement of processes and procedures throughout the organization.

IT Infrastructure, cyber security, software and hardware budgeting and procurement:
  • Oversee the firm's security posture, both on-premise and cloud, by identifying security vulnerabilities and providing strategic solutions. This involves identifying potential weaknesses in software or systems and implementing measures to mitigate these risks.
  • Oversee data backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity planning.
  • Provide sustainable and innovative technology solutions in line with current and future organizational goals.
  • Identity and establish potential new technology solutions to be a recognized leader in the A/E/C industry.
  • Develop a standardized approach to capital purchases.
  • Ensure existing systems are upgraded and connected for efficiency and collaboration, including training staff and acclimating new hires.
  • Negotiate agreements and manage relationships with consultants and vendors to meet business needs.
  • Create and maintain IT budgets and manage overall finances (purchases, expenditures, etc.); develop, recommend, and implement annual budget for overall IT needs.

Policy development, evaluating industry related technology:
  • Develop and execute IT strategies that support engineering design, project delivery, and operational efficiency.
  • Keep abreast of A/E/C related technology and participate in professional and A/E/C related groups.
  • Lead the firm's technology committee establishing goals and setting agendas.
  • Ensure high availability and performance of IT infrastructure, including servers, networks, and cloud-based systems.
  • Improve overall operational efficiency and service delivery across all business technology platforms.
  • Document all processes and procedures.

Education and Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or related field preferred.
  • Min. 10+ years' experience as an IT director, or similar upper management role, directing and overseeing IT department and related services. Experience in an AEC company is a plus.
  • Must be a proven leader to supervise, manage and measure results.
  • Expert knowledge of current and emerging technologies and strategic applications to meet business needs.
  • Experience in analysis, implementation and evaluation of IT systems and their specifications.
  • Strong understanding of computer networks, A/E/C software applications, cyber-security systems, data management, and collaboration tools.
  • Must have extensive experience in an Azure hybrid environment.
  • Demonstrated and proven experience in controlling information technology budget; must have proven experience developing and maintaining budgets.
  • Must be experienced in creating IT policies to support the implementation of department/company needs.
  • Excellent organizational, leadership, and supervisory skills to ensure the success of IT functions throughout the company.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills with ability to present to senior management/board/clients.

The salary range for this role is $150,000 - $190,000 annually.
