Certified Medical Assistant, (Specialty Clinic) FT 4 days a week, no weekends or holidays (Media)



SUMMARY
The Certified Medical Assistant is trained to provide care in the clinic setting to patients under the supervision of a Licensed Practical Nurse or a Registered Nurse. Based on the needs of the department, responsibilities are a combination of providing direct patient care and technical assistance to the nurse and performing a variety of computer, clerical, scheduling, and supply functions as necessary for the operation of the clinic. Compliance with rules and regulations of all applicable federal, state and local laws as well as PMHC policies is a condition of employment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Incumbent must have the skills, ability and judgment to perform the following essential job duties and responsibilities with or without reasonable accommodation:
Assists in the collection of assessment data, such as vital signs and intake/output information. Subjective and objective data are reported to Clinic Nurse in Charge.Provides care that meets the patient's needs such as repositioning, dressing and ambulating, for patients of all ages.Collects and/or transports laboratory specimens.Creates and maintains a comfortable and safe environment for patients, families, and visitorsOrganizes and maintains the patients EHR.Notifies personnel as delegated by nursing/providers.Schedules appointments and/or transcribes physician orders for review and approval by LPN or RN.Answers telephones and refers to appropriate personnel.Answers room lights.Transports patients and/or families from the clinic.Maintains clerical and patient supplies at the clinic.Maintains patient and employee confidentiality at all times.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Reports directly to the Supervisor of Specialty Clinics.

While performing the duties of this job, employees the employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts and is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles and risk of electrical shock. The employee occasionally works with explosive, toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
The level of risk of exposure to blood borne pathogens is Classification (I), as outlined in the Hepatitis B Vaccine Program Policy.

REQUIRED EDUCATION
Completion of an approved certified medical assistant course.
COMPETENCIES/CERTIFICATIONS REQUIRED
Currently licensed in the State of Nebraska as a Certified Medical Assistant.Current BLS certification must be obtained within 60 days from their date of hire..
