Quality Technician II/2nd Shift (Manufacturing)



Summary of Position

The Quality Technician II is responsible for conducting PCQI verification of production records and serves as a key support resource for Operations, R&D, Sanitation, and Maintenance. This role ensures product quality by holding items that fall outside specifications, assisting with investigations, and releasing held products according to Standard Operating Procedures. As the first point of contact for Quality Technicians on the production floor, the Quality Technician II provides guidance and support when issues arise.

 

Functions Of The Position:

  • Conduct PCQI reviews of production and metal detector records

  • Perform timely analysis of processing and packaging goods, including visual, organoleptic, weight, size, mix, oxygen, moisture, water activity, FFA, and salt to ensure consistency 

  • Serve as the lead technician for FPR, qualification, and targeted production runs.

  • Assist with pathogen, indicator, and allergen swabbing as scheduled by the QA Supervisor.

  • Prepare samples for analysis in consultation with the R&D lab.

  • Carry out additional duties as assigned.

 

Food Safety and Quality Assurance

  • Ensure safe and high-quality food production by adhering to current Good Manufacturing Practices, allergen and sanitation controls, food defense/fraud protocols, HACCP/FSMA, SQF, and other regulatory requirements.

  • Maintain and document preventative controls to support food safety and quality.

  • Immediately report any food safety or quality concerns to management.

  • Collaborate across teams to share knowledge and skills.

  • Continuously develop technical, functional, and leadership competencies.

  • Comply with all safety policies and procedures.

  • Promote a safety-first culture by practicing safe behaviors, reporting hazards, and conducting safety observations.

 

Supervisory Responsibility

  • This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.

 

Qualifications

Education & Experience:

  • Associate's degree in chemistry, Biology, or a related field preferred.

  • Prior experience in food quality is required.

Certifications:

  • PCQI certification preferred.

  • GFSI/SQF certification preferred.

  • Fork truck qualification preferred.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Must be able to consume snack products and nut varieties.

  • Strong attention to detail, record-keeping, and basic math skills.

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 20 pounds and stand for extended periods.

  • Proficient in using calculators, analytical scales, salt/moisture/oxygen analyzers, water activity meters, and color meters.

  • Capable of climbing stairs and ladders.

  • May be exposed to high temperatures.

 

Job-Specific Requirements

  • Mandatory overtime may be required based on business needs.

  • In the event of absence, the Department Manager must assign a qualified replacement.
