The Credit Assistant will partner with the Credit Manager providing a wide variety of clerical responsibilities associated with the Accounts Receivable Function, with a large volume of data entry.

You will report directly to the Credit Manager. Our core values are safety, quality and integrity in everything we do. All P.J. Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)

• Timely collection of assigned accounts using appropriate measures. All customer contact to be noted in available software.
• Track and collect returned checks including all follow through with appropriate agencies used in collection.
• Ensure department compliance with Sarbanes Oxley requirements
• Post various incoming payments received from the plants, via mail, and from the lock box to proper accounts.
• Post all wire transfers, journal entries, contras, sail tax adjustments, and service charges to proper accounts as directed
• Prepare daily bank deposit for A/R and various other departments as necessary.
• Prepare credit applications for approval by Credit Manager by requesting credit references and researching credit history as directed.
• Accurately match cash account payments and credit billings to the correct invoices.
• Maintain a filing system for all computer printouts of entry batches and reports. Keep a manual log of A/R ledger and balance with A/P monthly.
• Report late payments and non-payments to the Credit Manager on a regular basis.
• Compile and mail statements to customers on a monthly basis.
• Record all tax exemptions for the month and remove from current invoices prior to the month-end-close.
• Provide superior customer service at all times along with the appropriate discretion

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
• One to three months related experience.
• Detail orientated and strong organization skills
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office; experience in accounting or business specific software

Knowledge / Skill Requirements

• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
• Ability to compute rate, ration and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
