Job Summary

This is a skilled position where the Human Resources Generalist will facilitate and provide a variety of timely services for company employees, applicants and management staff. The ideal candidate will work with the Human Resources Manager to maximize the utilization of the HR component of the organization by being a motivated, thoughtful, results-oriented, self starter in a fast paced and ever changing environment. Must be a person who can multi-task, problem solve and adapt well to change. The ability to build and maintain trust-based collaborative relationships, maintaining a professional demeanor in dealing with confidential information; restricting discussion/knowledge of activity to a "need to know" basis.

Under general guidance of the HR Manager, you will provide administration of human resources policies and programs focusing on recruitment, affirmative action, compensation, training and employee relations. Perform all duties and responsibilities in compliance with standard operating procedures, FMLA, ADA, FLSA, and other applicable Federal, State and local regulations.

Job Location

  • This is an onsite role based in Knoxville TN

Job Responsibilities

  • Answer, assist, and field employee questions as they relate to benefits, payroll, wellness and other programs in a timely manner.
  • Ensure that HR programs and systems are compliant with federal, state, and local laws
  • Assist and track Short Term Disability (FMLA), and other HR programs and practices as required
  • Attend career fairs and be responsible for set up/take down and engage with attendees while being a representative of Harrison Construction, a CRH company
  • Conduct new hire orientation and track progress through our 30/60/90 day program for all new employees
  • Maintain employee personnel records and keep all documents filed appropriately and timely.
  • Assists HR Manager with salaried exempt and hourly hiring process, including composition of job descriptions, offer letters and evaluating candidates.
  • Assist managers by posting jobs and maintain/update these records on SuccessFactors
  • Conduct/facilitate electronic onboarding (CLICK) process for all new hires
  • Assist scheduling and conducting interviews with supervisors as requested
  • Assist with organizational development and human resources training of staff and management
  • Perform other job-related duties as necessary

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources or related field or equivalent in related work experience
  • 3+ years of experience in Human Resources is preferred (experience in a construction environment is a plus)
  • Advanced PC skills with proficiency in MS Office including MS Word, MS Excel, and MS PowerPoint and Canva experience a plus
  • Must be able and willing to travel to site locations, occasionally with some overnight/out of town meetings, seminars and training events.
  • Must pass pre-employment criminal background and drug test
  • Availability to work on special company events held on weekends occasionally
  • A valid driver's license

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to kneel, bend, and reach with hands and arms above their shoulders. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move boxes/files up to 25 lbs. Vision abilities (with correction) include close, distance, peripheral, depth and the ability to adjust focus. Employee is frequently sitting and standing for extended periods of time.
