Director of Engineering (Bloomington, MN) (Finance)



The Director of Engineering is responsible for Process Engineering, Process Control, and technology identification, implementation and deployment. This role directly supports part-specific development and yield improvement initiatives, by helping lead cross-functional teams to identify and solve process, product, and manufacturing challenges, and helping to define strategies and specific plans for continued improvement in part- and process stability and performance. The Director of Engineering plays a key role in defining the business' strategic technical objectives and technical direction. This key staff member helps the leadership team assure delivery, profitability and growth targets are achieved while maximizing profitability

What will you do?
  • Lead Engineering Strategy and Achievement. Define and execute strategic objectives, procedures, plans, and timelines to drive process improvement and innovation projects across the business.
  • Champion Process Efficiency. Partner with all teams to lead continual improvements in process stability, and scrap and rework reduction initiatives, thus improving yield and process efficiency across the business.
  • Strengthen Process Integrity. Lead teams to develop, refine, and maintain robust systems to ensure effective process controls are established and functioning as required. Champion the definition of controlled, documented and well-substantiated fixed processes, through practical, thorough and disciplined cross-functional change protocols.
  • Drive Continuous Improvement & Innovation. Identify, plan, and implement process improvement initiatives to enhance productivity, precision, and performance of processes and products. Maintain a culture of continuous improvement and technological advancement.
  • Support Full Lifecycle Engineering. Provide expert engineering leadership throughout development, preproduction and serial production to ensure technical accuracy, quality and profitability targets are achieved.
  • Optimize Departmental Resources. Manage engineering budgets across multiple disciplines to maximize efficiency and value.
  • Partner Cross-Functionally. Work closely with internal teams, customers and third-parties to continually strengthen the CPP-Minneapolis site performance, reputation, and reliability to support high-priority aerospace programs.
  • Advance Expertise. Pursue both personal and team training aligned with career growth and evolving business and industry requirements.
  • Promote Safety and Compliance: Adhere to all safety, HAZMAT, and environmental regulations to ensure a secure and responsible workspace.

What will make you a successful candidate?
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering and/or a combination of applicable work experience required for this role
  • 10+ years in an Engineering role required for this position, along with 3+ years of leadership experience
  • 10+ years' experience in various engineering roles manufacturing complex castings
  • Other Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
    • Attention to detail
    • Ability to communicate clearly - orally and in written form with all levels of the organization, customers and suppliers including working collaboratively with others through complex situations
    • Working knowledge of MS Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
    • Demonstrated ability to think and plan strategically, leading teams to successfully achieve goals while avoiding pitfalls
