Job Name: Machinist Reports to: Machine Shop Supervisor Classification: Full Time/Non-Exempt Job Summary: The Machinist is responsible for setting up, and operating machinery to produce the necessary parts while maintaining quality and safety standards; keeping records; maintaining equipment and supplies. Works under general supervision; relies on experience and general instructions to perform the functions of the job. Supervisory Responsibilities: · None Duties/Responsibilities: · Determine the proper tools and machining sequences necessary to produce quality parts · Inspecting finished parts to ensure they are in specified tolerances · Performs regular, preventative maintenance on machinery in the machine shop · Maintain a clean and organized work area · Performs duties consistent with safety rules and procedures · Performs other duties as required Required Skills/Abilities: · Must be able to operate surface grinder, I.D. and O.D grinders; manual lathes; vertical and horizontal milling machines; drill press. · Must be able to hold tolerances of .0005 or tighter. · Demonstrate ability to read blueprints, technical diagrams, and operating manuals. · Must be able to use precision measuring instruments. · Must be able to read and understand the metric system. · Must have good verbal and written communication skills. · Must be able to produce work in a timely-manner and meet deadlines. · Must have strong analytical and problem-solving skills. · Must have good organizational skills and be detail-oriented. · Must be able to work as a team and collaborate with co-workers. · Ability to work at a rapid pace with accuracy to repair or make parts and minimize production downtime. · Ability to understand verbal and written instructions in English; ability read and write English · Ability to identify safety issues in their work area. · Problem-solving skills to troubleshoot issues that arise during the manufacturing process. · Knowledge of mig, tig, arc welding a plus. · Knowledge of Haas, Mazak and Proto-Trak CNC a plus. Education and Experience: · High school education or equivalent required. · Minimum of 2 years work experience of manual machining experience · Experience using hand and power tools. Physical Requirements: · Must be able to lift up to 50 to 75 pounds. · Requires frequent standing, walking, carrying, climbing, bending, stooping and reaching.
