Painter II (Finance)



Job Summary:

Sets up various types of spray-painting equipment and work stands and applies primer, finish, and protective paint and paint-like coatings to parts and subassemblies. Obtains paint types, colors, number of coats, and areas to be painted from work orders, engineering drawings, and process specifications. Mixes paints to specified proportions and to obtain proper consistency for application. Performs incidental preparatory duties such as cleaning and preparing surfaces for painting. Lays out for, masks and sprays all types of primer, finish, and protective coatings on surfaces of detail parts and of sub-assemblies. Makes operating adjustments to painting equipment to control spray pattern, density, and splatter as required in order to obtain proper finish.

Responsibilities and Tasks:

  • Paint assemblies and sub-assemblies, using hand sprayer paint gun and painting booth.
  • Understand and ensure the quality of the paint finishes produced by the paint department meets our quality standards
  • Read and interpret paint drawings.
  • Work collaboratively with the operations team to understand priorities and needs of our customers.
  • Report defective painting or questionable conditions to the department supervisor.
  • Take apart components and prepare for painting.
  • Use established chemical processes to remove old paint and debris.
  • Maintain the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition and follows prescribed safety regulations.
  • Performs prescribed preventative maintenance on machines as required per standards.
  • Complete tasks as directed by manufacturing schedules with minimum supervision.
  • Maintain corrosion control.
  • Must have the ability to conduct quality inspection of own work and follow quality standards.
  • Maintain paint database according to MIL-SPEC or T.O. requirements.
  • Maintain shop ISO standards and 5S requirements.

Education, Experience & License or Certification:

  • High School diploma or GED is required
  • Training Pre-requisites (Within One Year of Taking Position):
  • ESD
  • Safety Training, as dictated by Safety Department
  • Other: FOD

Skills and Abilities:

  • Following established methods and procedures, must be able to perform, but using various painting mixtures and tools.
  • Ability to lift up to 80Lbs
