Learning & Development Facilitator (Finance)

A Learning & Development Facilitator develops, coordinates, and presents workshops, seminars, special events, training materials, job aids, self-paced and mediated instruction for the College of Pharmacy. The Facilitator creates and/or delivers training and education programs on current and future College of Pharmacy educational technology to meet the needs of the program (faculty, staff, and students).

Position Summary

The Learning and Development Facilitator is responsible for assisting with the Mission and Strategy of the instructional support offered to faculty and staff within the Taneja College of Pharmacy (TCOP). The L&D Facilitator will participate in the development, coordination, and presentation of workshops, seminars, special events, training materials, job aids, and self-paced and mediated instruction for the TCOP. The L&D Facilitator will also determine the educational technology to be utilized within the TCOP, and thereafter, develop and/or facilitate related training and other programming about these resources to faculty, staff, and students in order to maximize use.

Nature of Work

The position reports to the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs within the TCOP. The position ensures that the goals and objectives of the academic program are accomplished. The position requires skill in planning, budgeting, and evaluating projects, along with specific expertise in the subject matter of academic technology, the academic program, and knowledge of adult learning principles.

The position will have the ability to identify and, thereafter, create and facilitate workshops, training sessions, and/or training materials. The position requires demonstrated skills and abilities towards determining ideal implementation strategies of instructional technology in various educational settings, the development of training content, and the ability to translate theoretical/conceptual information into clear and easily understood terminology. The L&D Facilitator must have knowledge of learning theory and practice, facilitation and training techniques, instructional design methods, and specific educational technologies. Expertise with principles of instructional systems design and instructional technology are a fundamental requirement for the position.Minimum Qualifications:

This position requires a Bachelor's degree in Communication, Education, Adult Education, or equivalent with one year of experience in a professional training position; or a Master's degree in the same field. Certain grants and programs may also have specific education and/or certification requirements specific to the subject matter area of the program.

Preferred Qualifications :

A Bachelor's and a Master's degree in Instructional Design, Education, or other closely related field, and at least two years of experience. Communication skills and technology proficiency as noted in the minimum qualifications. Excellent communication skills (written and verbal). Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, at a minimum, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Appropriate college coursework or vocational/technical training may be substituted at an equivalent rate for the required experience Microsoft Office Suite.

Applicants who possess experience with learning management systems (Canvas), lecture capture programming or other technologies demonstrated to positively impact student learning (e.g., virtual worlds) are highly desirable, as is experience working in a professional degree program.

FLSB1310 Equivalency:
4 years of directly relevant experience may be substituted for a bachelor's degree.
6 years of directly relevant experience may be substituted for master's degree.

40% Learning and Development Program Implementation

  • Provide individual and/or group training to faculty, staff, and students
  • Conduct a needs analysis to identify instructional programming needs/requirements
  • Define long- and short-term goals and objectives for identified programming as well as related assessment measures
  • Determine the most appropriate and cost-effective instructional and assessment methods for identified programming
  • Ensure pursued programming is supported by pertinent literature and other data to ensure relevance and that program facilitates the adoption of evidence-based practices
  • Ensure the developed curricula, instructor manuals, learner guides, and other materials, and/or utilize purchased training programs meet identified goals, objectives, and other required standards
  • Organize, publicize, and implement programming.

40% Administrative and Assessment Requirements

  • Support the Instructional Designer and other staff or assistants (e.g., student workers)
  • Manage databases or other resources used to track participant progress and program scheduling
  • Develop and administer tests and other evaluations that measure learning and/or performance resulting from provided programming
  • Evaluate program content using both formative and summative evaluations, such as surveys, focus groups, interviews, test results, and observations as appropriate
  • Utilize a data-driven approach to determine program enhancement needs and, thereafter, revise content accordingly
  • Develop and administer tests and other evaluations that measure student learning and/or performance

20% Information Technology and Other Requirements

  • Work with Information Technology staff (University and vendor partners) on technical issues and other requirements
  • Collaborate with USF Health and USF main campus learning and development constituents to explore and design new and innovative approaches to the education of faculty, staff, and students
  • Review, evaluate, and recommend solutions for educational hardware and software acquisitions
  • Perform other duties as requested to support the needs of the college
