Job Summary
The Forklift Operator is responsible for assisting designated Machine Operators or the Production Team in a variety of functions. This is a union role.
Job Responsibilities
- Unload incoming truck shipments
- Load trucks with specified product, sign off on pick ticket
- Move controls and levers that operate forklift in order to load, unload, transport and stack materials ranging in weights from 50 lbs. to 100,000 lbs.
- Perform routine maintenance, clean up, and yard work keeping pallets neat and orderly
- Perform basic maintenance on forklift, such as cleaning filters, lubricating, recharging batteries, checking safety devices and fueling gas tank
- Use safety gear at all times, follow all safety regulations, and report any unsafe conditions or defective equipment to the supervisor immediately
- Clean floors and pick up reusable scrap for salvage, transport trash and debris away from production areas
- Operate a variety of hand tools
- Other responsibilities may be assigned on a temporary or permanent basis as needed
Job Requirements
- Must have at least 3 verifiable years of safe, 20,000lbs plus forklift operating experience, preferably with concrete products
- Yard experience preferred but not required
- High school diploma or equivalent, or a comparable combination of education, training and experience
- Ability to read and comprehend simple verbal or written instructions
- Lifting may be required with assistance provided if needed
- Must have the ability to read a tape measure
- Must be able to demonstrate lock out tag out procedures and attend safety meetings
- Able to pass internal training
Compensation
- The hourly pay rate is $22.60 - $24.76/hr.
