Air & Noise Practice Lead (Finance)

Role description:

Arcadis is seeking a senior level Air & Noise Practice Lead to join the Mobility Team. The Air & Noise Practice Lead will develop and oversee mobile source air quality and Traffic Noise/Acoustical Abatement projects. This position will work with market leaders to build relationships with new and existing clients to increase the volume and/or geographic breadth of mobile source air and roadway noise abatement projects.

This role will sit within the larger Global Mobility Business Area. We partner with our clients across the globe to design thriving and connected cities and communities that enable opportunity for all and keep the world moving. Climate change, urbanization and digitization trends are requiring today's mobility projects and systems to address an evolving set of demands from the world's growing population. We design connected, sustainable solutions that integrate existing infrastructure with new technologies, and optimize the mobility of people and goods.

Role accountabilities:

The Air & Noise Practice Lead will coordinate with internal and external design teams and other subject matter experts to provide guidance on noise barrier requirements and design considerations; review and approve scopes of work; estimate labor and costs; negotiate fees; and process invoices. This position will also assist with the public preference balloting process for recommended noise walls. Job duties also include workload forecasting and resource planning; participating in project team meetings and coordinating as necessary with project teams to conduct air/noise analysis and noise abatement recommendations/design in compliance with applicable law and DOT policy and in keeping with project schedules; participating in public meetings and hearings as a subject matter expert on traffic air/noise issues; responding to citizen concerns and questions about traffic noise and abatement; providing needed expertise, technical assistance, and regulatory guidance in matters related to traffic noise and its abatement. The Air & Noise Practice Lead will be the primary lead and quality control supervisor over entry and junior staff, ability to recruit and mentor junior staff is also key responsibility for this role.

This candidate should be competent in the development of air quality assessments and traffic noise impact and abatement analyses in support of transportation projects. The role also includes opportunities to contribute to other environmental documents in compliance with the National Environmental Policy Act. The types of projects include Federal-aid, State-funded, and municipal highway and railway projects. Sustainable and resilient solutions are also a focus in our Mobility Business.

This role will require strong organizational skills and the ability to work on several project assignments in parallel, experience managing tasks with an interest in leading projects, expanding current lines of work, and potentially exploring new areas of opportunities.

Qualifications & Experience:

Required Qualifications:

  • 6+ years of minor to complex highway air and traffic noise analysis experience
  • Experience adhering to formal regulatory and/or policy criteria
  • Experience obtaining, analyzing, and documenting sound level data
  • Ability to recruit and train junior staff.
  • Proficiency and certified training with FHWA Traffic Noise Model (FHWA TNM v2.5)
  • Proficiency with engineering drawing software (Microstation, InRoads, OpenRoads, AutoCAD, etc.), ArcGIS, and Microsoft® Office applications
  • Availability for occasional field work
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Engineering Science, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or GIS or equivalent field - OR - Master's Degree in Acoustics / Acoustical Engineering; PE is not required.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in completing air and noise analysis for multiple clients including North Carolina DOT, Georgia DOT, or Florida DOT
  • Meet requirements for air quality and noise assessment pre-qualifications for Georgia DOT and North Carolina DOT
  • Engineering design experience, preferably transportation-related

We offer nine paid holidays and 15 days PTO that accrue per year. The salary range for this position is $80,461 - $142,718. Actual salaries will vary and are based on several factors, such as experience, education, budget, internal equity, project and location.
