Shipping Supervisor (Finance)



This position is responsible for the planning, organizing, and monitoring of the receiving and shipping departments. Supervises workers who confirm and record the receipt of shipments, prepare items for shipping, and load and unload trucks. Also responsible for managing the inter-departmental transport of materials.

The Shipping Supervisor plays a critical leadership role in a retail and commercial garage door industrial production environment, ensuring the safe, efficient, and timely shipment of products while maintaining strict quality standards. This role is central to the company's transition from historical operating systems to Oracle, requiring strong change management skills to guide the shipping team through this evolution. Reporting to the Materials Manager, the Shipping Supervisor will drive continuous improvements in workflow, safety, quality, and efficiency, while fostering a culture of adaptability and excellence.

  • Bachelor's degree in Management or equivalent experience preferred.
  • 2-3 years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing or high-volume industrial shipping environment.
  • Strong leadership and change management skills to support the migration from historical processes to Oracle.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office, Excel, and Kronos preferred.
  • Experience with inventory management, shipping logistics, and quality control.
  • Knowledge of cross-docking and lean manufacturing principles is preferred.
  • Ability to analyze, report, and improve operational efficiencies.
  • Strong understanding of safety regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Physically capable of standing, lifting, bending, and moving materials throughout the shift.

  • Oversee and enforce safety regulations, ensuring all employees follow proper procedures to maintain a safe workplace.
  • Drive change management by implementing new Oracle system, training employees, and ensuring successful adoption.
  • Collaborate with Quality Assurance to improve shipping procedures and uphold product quality standards.
  • Monitor and optimize department performance through key metrics and efficiency tracking.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives, including 5S practices, workflow enhancements, and cost reduction strategies.
  • Train and develop employees to ensure they are equipped with the necessary skills to transition from manual operations to digital workflows.
  • Maintain accurate documentation for logistics, workflow, and compliance reporting.
  • Support cross-functional collaboration across materials, production, and logistics teams to improve overall supply chain performance.
  • Handle employee scheduling, timecard management (Kronos), and daily team meetings to align team objectives.
  • Ensure all shipments are error-free by reviewing final load sheets and conducting regular audits.
