Lead Project Engineer (Finance)



The Systems Engineering team within the Engines and Power Systems organization has an immediate opening for a Lead Project Engineer. In this role, the Lead will oversee the execution of the System Structures, Loads and Dynamics (SSLD), Full Engine Thermal Deflection Model (FETDM), and Rotor Dynamics work package on the HTF NG turbofan engine development program and ensure execution. The Lead will have Cost Account Manager (CAM) responsibilities and own all costs, budget, schedule, and risks for that work package. The Lead will ensure the HTF NG is compliant with the requirements for SSLD, FETDM, and System Rotor Dynamics. In this role you will mentor junior engineers.As a Lead Project Engineer at Honeywell, you will be responsible for providing guidance, mentorship, and technical expertise to lead critical project groups and contribute to the development of innovative solutions.YOU MUST HAVE
  • Bachelor's degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, or a related Engineering discipline from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in project engineering or a similar role within the aerospace industry, preferably with a focus on gas turbine engines.
  • Proficiency in project management tools and methodologies (e.g., Microsoft Project, Agile Scrum/Kanban, Earned Value Management System (EVMS)).
  • Excellent communication (verbal, written, and presentation), interpersonal, and teamwork skills.
  • Proven analytical, problem-solving, and risk management abilities, with a results-oriented approach.
  • Due to export control laws, must be a US Citizen

WE VALUE
  • Advanced degree (Master's or PhD) in a relevant engineering field.
  • Strong understanding of gas turbine engine principles, including aerodynamics, propulsion systems, structures, and materials science.
  • Experience with gas turbine components and/or module level engineering.
  • Familiarity with industry-specific software and systems (e.g., SAP, Jira, MS Project, DOORS NG, and CAMEO).
  • Demonstrated experience leading multi-functional teams.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Lead and manage SSLD, Rotor Dynamics, and FETDM work package related to the HTF NG program, including design, development, and testing activities.
  • Develop comprehensive project plans, including scope, goals, deliverables, resource allocation, schedules, and budgets.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams (design, structural, materials, manufacturing, etc.) to ensure project alignment and successful execution.
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks, developing contingency plans to minimize potential disruptions.
  • Monitor project progress, track performance metrics (cost, schedule, technical specifications), and provide regular updates to stakeholders and management.
  • Coordinate/plan detailed design and analysis (e.g., stress/FEA/fatigue) and contribute to technical decision-making on product/process designs.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations (e.g., FAA Advisory Circulars), and company quality guidelines throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Prepare and present technical reports, specifications, procedures, and presentations to internal and external audiences.
  • Support the development and implementation of continuous improvement initiatives, utilizing tools and methodologies like Lean and Agile.
  • Lead the development of requirements associated with SSLD, Rotor Dynamics, and FETDM.
