Amerisure is recruiting for an Agency Managing Underwriter to join our team in Indianapolis, IN.
Position Summary:
Serves as the primary underwriting contact for assigned agency relationships, driving top- and bottom-line results through expert risk selection, pricing, and negotiation of complex accounts. Leads agency performance monitoring, fosters strong partnerships, and advocates for agency needs while aligning with Amerisure's strategic objectives.
Responsibilities:
Evaluate and use underwriting judgement to price and negotiate large and complex accounts in accordance with Amerisure's risk evaluation process, underwriting guidelines, and renewal framework.
Assess and underwrite new business opportunities that align with profitability goals and risk appetite.
Provide service excellence to agency partners, adhering to established service standards to strengthen agency relationships and support business objectives.
Develop and maintain strong relationships with key agency contacts to facilitate effective negotiations and ensure successful account acquisition and retention.
Attain established underwriting performance metrics for both new and renewal accounts, including production goals and quote and hit ratios.
Maintain organized and thorough underwriting documentation in accordance with Amerisure's standards and guidelines.
Utilize underwriting tools to effectively support risk assessment and decision-making.
Collaborate and champion of Amerisure's underwriting philosophy and strategic priorities with agency partners and internal departments.
Analyze agency performance metrics, including loss ratios, premium growth, and policy retention rates, to identify trends and areas for improvement.
Develop actionable strategies to address underperformance or capitalize on growth opportunities in collaboration with agency stakeholders.
Partner with internal teams, such as claims and risk management, to ensure comprehensive support for agency partners.
Leverage data and analytics to enhance risk evaluation and drive decision making.
Monitor and apply market intelligence, including industry trends and competitive analysis, to underwriting strategies.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent years of experience.
5 years underwriting experience in commercial middle market insurance including large and complex accounts.
Experience in handling agency relationships preferred.
Proficient computer skills required including Microsoft Office Suite.
Proven strong sales acumen with the ability to effectively negotiate, influence, and close deals while building and maintaining long-term relationships.
Demonstrated successful ability to build positive partnerships and work collaboratively with cross-functional business teams.
Demonstrated successful ability to prioritize and multi-task various and conflicting responsibilities.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to deal with ambiguity.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact with internal and external customers
Ability to travel up to 25%.
