SUMMARY: Assist the Facilities Project Management Team with building space-planning, updating office and workstation layout, furniture installation, interior decorating, asset management, file organization, and other small project coordination. May attend various planning meetings with Operation Service leaders, purchasing staff, and operation support staff.
Note to Applicants: This is a nine-month internship opportunity.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The following duties and responsibilities are illustrative of the primary functions of this position and are not intended to be all inclusive.
-Work with City staff, interior designer, project managers, supervisors, and managers to understand scopes of work associated with planning for office or other facility space use/ needs.
-Create preliminary designs using space-planning software programs (Revit, SketchUp).
-Research products or materials and get price quotations from vendors.
-Assist with the development of project budgets and schedules.
-Assist with coordinating the installation of building furniture, fixtures, and equipment.
-Create and distribute communications for projects (meeting agendas, informational bulletins, meeting notes, etc.).
-Help digitize project documents.
-Assist PMPD staff process and file current project documents.
-Operates City vehicles to visit job sites
-Other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE: Active enrollment in a degree program in Design, Sciences or Engineering Fields preferred. Experience with Revit and Sketchup is required.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
-Ability to read and interpret documents such as Building Standards, safety rules, construction documents, best management practices, management plans, operating and maintenance instructions, as well as procedure manuals.
-Ability to prepare and deliver effective reports, correspondence, and PowerPoint presentations.
-Ability to speak effectively before different groups.
REASONING ABILITY:
-Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
-Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
-Valid Driver's License
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk; sit; use hands to, handle documents and talk or hear to understand instructions.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: Work will occur both indoors and out. The outdoor component will occur in varying weather conditions. Conditions may, at times, be severe.
