Monday-Friday-1 hour Lunch break

Position Summary: The clerk/interpreter performs the necessary language interpretation tasks for the 16th Judicial District as well as clerical, data entry and customer service tasks of limited complexity and variety required by prescribed procedures. Supervision by the Clerk and detailed instructions are given on new assignments and on any irregularities encountered.

Essential Function Statement(s)
Provide interpretation services under a variety of circumstances and locations; Assist with public inquires; Assist with file management including preparation, scanning and storage of files, forms, reports and other materials; Complete research requests; Collect fees and record receipts. Make simple arithmetic calculations by the use of a calculator or computer. Perform receptionist duties. Translate information verbally and in writing to appropriate the language for the department.
MARGINAL FUNCTIONS
Other related duties as necessary or required.

Position qualifications
Must be eligible to work in the United States. Must be fluent in English and able to communicate effectively with others using the spoken word and proper writing style in all communication vehicles. Pass post offer drug screen and background investigation
SKILLS & ABILITIES
Experience: General knowledge of clerical and computer skills. Employee is expected to have acquired the necessary information and skills after less than six months in the position.
Education: High School diploma or equivalent is required.
Skills: Ability to operate a computer, calculator, photocopier, and related office equipment. Fluent in speaking, writing and reading the Spanish and English languages.
Problem Solving: Limited problem solving exists.
Decision Making: Limited responsibilities requiring decision-making.
Accountability: Employee follows the guidelines of courtroom etiquette and must remain neutral while providing services.
Supervision: Direct supervision provided by the Judges and Clerk of the District Court. This position does not have supervisory responsibilities over subordinate personnel.
Personal Relations: Continual contact with district court personnel and court participants. Occasional contact with county departments and the general public.
Working Conditions: Adverse working conditions do not exist for this position.
