Position Description:

The Technical Services & Manufacturing Science (TSMS) Trainer is responsible for the design, coordination, maintenance, and delivery of technical training programs for the Technical Services & Manufacturing Science (TSMS) department (including any other supporting department) at Elwood, Kansas to support the monoclonal antibody (mAb) manufacturing facility. This role ensures TSMS team members and/or supporting departments are equipped with the knowledge and skills necessary to support commercial operations through tech transfer, process optimization, validation, monitoring, troubleshooting efforts, and regulatory compliance by providing robust onboarding, continuous learning, and skills development in line with current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) and industry expectations.

Functions, Duties, Tasks:

  • Provide technical support for the commercialization, manufacture, and life-cycle management of monoclonal antibody products.
  • Establish and lead classroom, virtual, and hands-on training sessions on core processes and technologies to operational and support teams to stay current with industry standards.
  • Develop and maintain role-specific training programs for TSMS team members.
  • Support site readiness for inspections by working with site Learning & Development and Quality Systems teams to maintain accurate training records and align with Learning Management System (LMS) requirements.
  • Track training completion, assess effectiveness, and continuously improve training programs based on feedback, audits, and evolving business needs.

Minimum Qualification:

  • Bachelor's degree (or equivalent experience) in Bio/Pharmaceutical Technology, Microbiology, Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • 3+ years' experience in the Biotech / Pharmaceutical industry.  Experience in tech transfer, scale up, and validation of biopharmaceutical processes.
  • Possesses a detailed understanding of biopharmaceutical production processes, cGMP standards, and quality risk management tools (RCI, FMEA, QRM).
  • Demonstrates successful cross-functional teamwork, experience in adult learning strategies, and strong verbal, interpersonal, and technical writing skills.

Additional Preferences:

  • Additional degree or certification in adult education/ learning or related discipline.
  • MSc or PhD in Bio/Pharmaceutical Technology, Microbiology, Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience in commercial monoclonal antibody / recombinant protein manufacturing processes.
  • Experience with SAP, JMP, Veeva Vault.
  • Working knowledge of USDA and/or EU GMP regulations for veterinary biologics.

Other Information:

  • Day shift position.  Weekend and evening work not usual, although it may be required to provide process support to ongoing operations.
  • Minimal travel requirements < 10%.
